7 most interesting health IT partnerships this week

Hospitals, health systems and academic medical centers teamed up with health IT companies, startups and advocacy groups this week to develop new initiatives, technologies and innovative projects.

Here are seven of the most interesting health IT partnerships and collaborations reported by Becker's Hospital Review this week.

1. Partners Connected Health, part of Boston-based Partners HealthCare, joined forces with Hitachi to develop artificial intelligence technology that can predict the risk of 30-day hospital readmissions for heart failure patients.

2. Cincinnati-based Mercy Health announced Wednesday it has joined Avia, a network of health systems focused on digital innovation and transformation.

3. Legacy Data Access, a healthcare software and data services company and Life2, an innovator in artificial intelligence and clinical data services, announced a partnership built on artificial intelligence and machine learning in the healthcare sector.

4. OSG Billing Services, a leading provider of outsourced billing and statement services and customer communication management, Dec. 12 announced that it has completed the acquisition of Diamond Communication Solutions, a full-service provider of data-driven customer communications, headquartered in Carol Stream, Ill.

5. The Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission signed an agreement Monday declaring their intent to partner to police the internet once the FCC approves its plan to repeal net neutrality rules.

6. TIBCO Software, a company that offers integration, analytics and API management platforms, is partnering with Change Healthcare to help providers, payers and pharmacies use health IT data to manage their workflows.

7. Amsterdam-based Royal Philips acquired VitalHealth, a population health management company based in Ede, the Netherlands, the company announced Dec. 8.
