Board-certified medical oncologist Aradhana Ghosh, MD, joined Syapse as its vice president of oncology, the San Francisco-based precision medicine startup announced Dec. 7.

Syapse, which recently raised $30 million in Series D funding, aims to provide hospitals with actionable oncology insights through its point-of-care precision medicine software platform. The platform organizes and presents structured clinical and genomic data to match patients with targeted therapies based on reported treatment and outcome information from patients across the U.S.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Ghosh.

1. As vice president of oncology, she will lead Syapse's clinical group and offer input regarding the company's product development, corporate strategy and sales implementation initiatives.

2. Dr. Ghosh most recently served as a medical oncologist at IBM Watson Health. She also served as a physician executive at McKesson, where she focused on medical informatics.

3. She previously practiced hematology-oncology at Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente and served as medical director of specialty care at San Jose, Calif.-based Santa Clara Health & Hospital System.

4. Dr. Ghosh earned her medical degree from Albany (N.Y.) Medical College and completed residency training in internal medicine at Philadelphia-based Temple University Hospital. She went on to receive subspecialty training in hematology and oncology at NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.

"Aradhana is a tremendous addition to the Syapse team," said Ken Tarkoff, CEO of Syapse. "Her vast experience at the intersection of clinical medicine and technology will help Syapse continue our rapid growth, and I know our health system partners will find Aradhana to be an especially valuable resource as they deliver precision medicine to more patients."
