Here are four things to know about National Health IT Week.
1. The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and the Institute for e-Health Policy established National Health IT Week to raise awareness of the value of health IT.
2. HIMSS and the Institute for e-Health Policy helm the event as co-sponsors. This year, other partners include various government agencies, IT corporations, healthcare providers, trade associations and universities.
3. Partner organizations host independent events throughout the week. For example, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration hosted an Oct. 2 webinar on its health IT initiatives and ONC organized two panels on interoperability and usability in Washington, D.C., Oct. 3.
4. The themes for National Health IT Week 2017 events center on supporting healthcare transformation, expanding access to high-quality care, increasing economic opportunity and improving community health.
