Here are four things to know.

1. The donation will help establish a new, expanded cancer center at the hospital’s main campus in Oceanside, according to a news release.

2. The new, expanded cancer center will consolidate cancer services under one roof. At present, patients receive cancer services at a number of different sites on the South Shore, posing logistical challenges at times for patients, hospital officials said.

3. Part of the donation will also support the hiring of a part-time behavioral health counselor to work with the social services staff at the Barry & Florence Freidberg Jewish Community Center in Oceanside, according to the release.

4. Over the last several years, the Feil family has donated more than $5 million to South Nassau Communities Hospital.
