The Cutting Costly Codes Act of 2013 would require the Comptroller General of the U.S. to “identify steps that can be taken to mitigate the disruption on healthcare providers resulting from a replacement of ICD-9 as such a standard.” Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) has introduced identical legislation in the Senate.
“The new ICD-10 codes will not make one patient healthier,” said Mr. Poe in a news release. “What they will do is further complicate our healthcare system, adding more burdens on our medical community.”
