Part of the funding from New York’s Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program went to 27 projects in New York City. The largest contributions included $25.2 million to Brooklyn (N.Y.) Hospital Center for a modernized emergency department and $6.6 million to Staten Island-based Richmond University Medical Center for behavioral health renovations and merger expenses.

New York legislators earmarked the funds in last spring’s budget, Times-Herald Record reports. Recipient hospitals can use the grants for capital projects, debt retirement and transactions, among other initiatives expanding state health services.
