Mr. Barker’s reform proposal includes an employer assessment that would generate $200 million for the state’s Medicaid program as well as an amendment that would block MassHealth eligibility for full-time workers with access to health coverage from their employers.
Lawmakers previously voted against dealing with the reforms during budget negotiations since they believed a more careful review was necessary.
The veto comes as the governor’s administration expects the state’s tax revenue to generate $749 million less than previously forecasted.
