Nasdaq, S&P see record highs thanks to healthcare, tech

The Nasdaq and S&P 500 reached record highs Wednesday morning, fueled by healthcare and technology stocks, according to Reuters.

The S&P 500 SPX index was at 2,466.70, which is up 6.09 points, and Nasdaq Composite IXIC was up 25.51 points at 6.369.81.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals caused the largest boost on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq, after a rise of 22 percent due to the company’s reported success of their cystic fibrosis treatment.

In the tech sector, Microsoft and Facebook helped boost the indexes.
