Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic has received a monetary donation from the Penske Foundation to support its downtown Rochester campus redevelopment, and will name a new patient arrival building for the foundation.
The system is not disclosing the amount of the donation at the benefactor’s request, a spokesperson told Becker’s.
The gift will support “Bold. Forward. Unbound.,” Mayo Clinic’s $10 billion investment to redesign care delivery through integrated digital and physical spaces, according to a Sept. 30 news release.
The Penske Arrival Building will span about 15,000 square feet and include valet service, patient and visitor amenities and a direct subway connection to Mayo Clinic’s existing and new clinical buildings, the release said. Patients will be welcomed with valet and drop-off service beginning Oct. 8, and parking will open in April 2027, adding nearly 500 spaces.
“The Penske Arrival Building will bring parking, transportation, navigation and personal support together in one place and make it easier for patients and families to begin and end their time at Mayo Clinic,” President and CEO Gianrico Farrugia, MD, said in the release.
Blair Hall, president of the Penske Foundation, said in the release that the building represents an important part of Mayo Clinic’s vision for transforming the patient experience.
The foundation has previously supported Mayo Clinic through its President’s Strategic Initiative Fund and is recognized by the system as a philanthropic partner, its highest level of distinction for benefactors, according to the release.
Mayo Clinic has drawn other large gifts this year, including a $100 million donation from Marriott family foundations that also supports Bold. Forward. Unbound. and a $75 million gift for a logistics hub project.
