Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic has received a $100 million gift to support the system’s investment in healthcare transformation.
The gift comes from The Bill and Donna Marriott Foundation and The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation to support Bold. Forward. Unbound., the system’s $5 billion investment in transforming care through integrated digital and physical spaces, according to a Feb. 6 health system news release shared with Becker’s.
The gift supports Mayo Clinic’s reimagined downtown Rochester campus. In recognition of the contribution, Mayo Clinic will name the Marriott Family Atrium, a central feature of the campus redevelopment. The two-story atrium is slated to be complete in 2030 and will connect the new downtown campus.
The contribution builds on a decadeslong relationship between the Marriott family and Mayo Clinic that began in 1962. Members of the family have served on Mayo Clinic’s board of trustees and supported clinical care, research and education initiatives.
Mayo Clinic also recognized The Bill and Donna Marriott Foundation and The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation as philanthropic partners, the organization’s highest designation for benefactors.
