Insight Hospital and Medical Center Trumbull in Warren, Ohio, has reopened after pausing operations since March.
“Insight Hospital & Medical Center Trumbull is now officially open, providing 24/7 emergency care along with inpatient and outpatient services,” a spokesperson for Flint, Mich.-based Insight Health System, the hospital’s owner, said in an Oct. 14 statement shared with Becker’s. “We are grateful for the continued partnership of our community, staff, nurses, doctors and leaders at every level of government as we reopen.”
In late September, CMS gave notice that it planned to terminate the hospital’s Medicare program agreement Oct. 10, due to multiple Medicare compliance issues.
Ohio’s Department of Health also found its own set of issues during a Sept. 23 inspection that needed to be addressed.
Insight Hospital and Medical Center Trumbull and its sister hospital, Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Warren, were purchased by Insight in November 2024 from Dallas-based Steward Health Care, which sought Chapter 11 protection in May 2024. Insight Hospital then paused nonemergent patient admissions in early March before both hospitals halted operations in late March over financial and ongoing bankruptcy issues related to Steward’s former ownership.
Becker’s has followed up with Insight Health for comment regarding the CMS agreement and status of Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital and will update this story should more information become available.
