Patients shared their grievances with La Porte Hospital’s billing system on Facebook, with more than 200 people raising concerns, some stemming back several years.

One patient claimed she received a bill from La Porte Hospital that was addressed to a woman living in Rochester, N.Y. In a separate instance, the same patient claimed she was told that her account had been sent to collections, but she had never received a bill. Another patient said they were sued over a bill they never received.

La Porte Hospital responded to the claims in a statement to ABC 57: “At La Porte Hospital, we are committed to supporting our patients in all aspects of their care. If a patient has a question or concern about their billing, we encourage them to contact our Business Office. Billing issues originating before March 2016 will need to be addressed by [Indianapolis-based] IU Health, the prior owner of La Porte Hospital.”
