North Carolina hospital misses payroll

Employees of Washington Regional Medical Center in Plymouth, N.C., did not receive their paychecks Dec. 13, according to TV station WNCT.

The hospital postponed issuing paychecks after a loan fell through at the last minute, Frank Avignone, CEO of Affinity Health Partners, which operates Washington Regional Medical Center, told WNCT.

"We thought we had a loan that would matriculate and it did not at the last minute and so we had to postpone payroll for a very short period of time while we back up and get funds in the bank and may payroll good," he told WNCT.

Mr. Avignone said he hopes to fix the issue and pay employees Dec. 16.

One employee, who spoke to WNCT on the condition of anonymity, said she's among many hospital workers looking for a new job after not getting paid.
