Bullock County Hospital received the termination notice from CMS following a Nov. 2 follow-up investigation by the Alabama Department of Health.
The state department found multiple deficiencies, including issues with improperly tracking medication errors; ensuring patients had a safe and sanitary environment and failing to follow the CMS approved plan of correction.
The Alabama Department of Health first visited Bullock County Hospital in September to conduct a Medicare contract recertification survey. The September investigation found deficiencies and the county hospital submitted a plan of correction in October, which was approved by CMS. However, the follow-up survey determined the hospital was still out-of compliance with federal standards.
Bullock County Hospital must submit a new correction plan or its Medicare funding will be revoked.
