BJC HealthCare’s operating income quadruples in 2019

St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare saw its operating income quadruple in 2019 and also saw its net income climb nearly sevenfold compared to 2018, according to recently released financial documents.

Four things to know:

1. BJC HealthCare saw its operating income jump to $263.3 million in 2019, up from $59.4 million in 2018.

2. The health system reported revenue of $5.72 billion in 2019. In 2018, BJC HealthCare generated revenue of $5.33 billion.

3. Expenses for the health system also jumped from $5.27 billion in 2018 to $5.46 billion in 2019.

4. Overall, the system reported a net income of $700.6 million in 2019, nearly seven times BJC HealthCare’s net income of $105.9 million reported in 2018.
