Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics continue to acquire outreach lab assets from health systems. Here are five deals Becker’s has reported since December 2024:

1. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems on Dec. 2 completed its sale of select ambulatory outreach laboratory assets to Labcorp for $194 million in cash. The deal includes certain assets of CHS-affiliated hospitals’ lab services in 13 states, such as patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy locations. CHS will retain and continue operating its inpatient and emergency department laboratories, including lab services for hospital-based care like imaging and pre-admission testing.

2. Labcorp on Nov. 13 announced plans to acquire select assets from Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Parkview Health’s outreach laboratory services under a new strategic agreement. The transaction, which is expected to close in 2026, is exclusively for Parkview’s nonemergent outreach laboratory services, and labs inside Parkview hospitals will continue to support patients with acute care and emergency needs.

3. Labcorp on April 21 completed its acquisition of Tupelo-based North Mississippi Health Services’ ambulatory outreach laboratory business. The company also became a referral laboratory for the system’s seven hospitals and clinic laboratories.

4. Cleveland-based University Hospitals on Jan. 27 completed the sale of select assets of its outreach laboratory services business to Quest Diagnostics. Under the agreement, Quest’s labs in Twinsburg, Ohio, and Pittsburgh will handle testing for UH providers and patients who use Quest’s lab services. UH continues to offer inpatient and select outpatient testing through its hospital-based labs.

5. Johnson City, Tenn.-based Ballad Health on Dec. 11, 2024 finalized its sale of select operating assets of its outreach laboratory services to Labcorp. Ballad continues to operate its inpatient and emergency department laboratories, as well as lab services for hospital-based practices
