Numerous healthcare organizations recently received donations to fund research, advance treatments, improve patient care and start renovations.

Here are four recent donations, pledges or bequests given to healthcare organizations by various entities reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the past week, beginning with the most recent.

1. Good Samaritan Hospital receives $21M gift from Berkshire Hathaway chairman
Los Angeles-based Good Samaritan Hospital received a $21 million donation from Charles Munger, vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway and chairman of the hospital, to support the hospital's expansion and renovation project.

2. Disney pledges $100M to enhance the patient experience at children's hospitals
As part of a new initiative to reinvent the patient experience, The Walt Disney Co. pledged more than $100 million in cash, products and services to children's hospitals across the globe.

3. Community Medical Centers receive $10M gift: 4 things to know
Fresno, Calif.-based Community Medical Centers received a $10 million donation from Robert Smittcamp and his family to advance the health system's neuroscience program. 

4. This donor wrote a $2M check to Le Bonheur Children's hospital to address community health issues
Memphis, Tenn.-based Le Bonheur Children's Hospital received a $2 million gift from Trish Ring, PhD, and her husband Carl Ring, which will support the hospital's ongoing community health improvement efforts.
