Community Medical Centers receive $10M gift: 4 things to know

Fresno, Calif.-based Community Medical Centers received a $10 million donation from Robert Smittcamp and his family to advance the health system’s neuroscience program.

Here are four things to know.

1. The gift will support the Central California Neuroscience Institute at Community Regional Medical Center, which aims to create a seamless patient care experience for patients suffering from various neurological conditions.

2. In addition, the gift will help support the recruitment of neurosurgeons to the health system.

3. Mr. Smittcamp is the chairman and CEO of Lyons Magnus, an international food and beverage manufacturer. He is also the co-owner of Wawona Packing Company.

4. “This gift will allow us to continue bringing the latest technology here, continue with groundbreaking research, and attract top experts so [local] families can get the best care close to home,” said Community Medical Centers President and CEO Tim Joslin.
