The $1.8 million unit features upgraded technology and 12 patient rooms. It has been moved from a building constructed in the 1930s to one that is being renovated to meet earthquake-resistant standards. Over 20,000 patients visited the urgent care center last year.
“As our population continues to grow, it’s more important now than ever to make sure our public facilities are up to date,” said London Breed, San Francisco’s mayor, who added that the hospital should also be “resilient and strong in the event of a major earthquake or any other disaster that may come our way.”
