The university seeks to build a new health science building with clinical simulation suites and more research labs, as well as a virtual hospital to give medical students an opportunity to shadow physicians and gain real world experience.
“This is a recognition of the trajectory of WSU Health Sciences Spokane and the path we are already on,” said Daryll DeWald, vice president for WSU Health Sciences and chancellor for WSU Health Sciences Spokane. “WSU Health Sciences is making a difference in healthcare for the state of Washington in all 39 counties, particularly in underserved rural areas.”
The university plans to spend the next few years planning the expansion. It is estimated to cost $120 million.
