The $480 million, 12-story third tower is scheduled to open in 2020. The tower will house the Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute. It will also consolidate acute inpatient care services provided at Dallas-based Zale Lipshy University Hospital, and add 19 operating rooms, interventional suites and an expanded emergency department.
The project will be funded through bond sales and supplemented with donations. Clements University Hospital and its ED will maintain operations during the 30-month project.
The Clement University Hospital project marks part of the first phase of UT Southwestern’s $875 million west campus facilities replacement plan. The plan comprises five phases and spans 20 years. The first phase also includes construction of a nine-story academic and clinical building, which is underway.
