The new 24-bed ICU, built on the fifth floor of the hospital’s Messina Building, has spacious rooms equipped with new technologies and amenities such as showers and sofa beds for family members.  The new unit will replace a 39-year-old ICU, which will be converted into patient rooms next year.

South Shore’s new critical care unit is named after former hospital President and CEO Richard Aubut and his wife Joann, who laid the groundwork for the new unit.
