The $700,000 program is part of an $8.1 million initiative announced by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) to combat opioid misuse and heroin use. Eight addiction treatment providers in New York received funding through the initiative.

In addition to the funding, UPMC Chautauqua WCA received approval from the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services for its physicians and ancillary staff to offer the withdrawal services.

The program is designed for patients age 18 and older. They can participate in the program for up to one year.

The program’s opening date remains undetermined.
