The hospital primarily attributed the closure to decreasing insurance coverage and reimbursement for addiction-related services, St. Helena said in a news release to Napa Valley Register.
Steven Herber, MD, president and CEO of St. Helena Hospital, told the Register, “We regret we have to make these changes,” however, “the hospital just can’t afford to sustain the losses any longer.” Dr. Herber did not tell the publication how much St. Helena has lost.
St. Helena Hospital will continue to offer detox services. The recovery center is also working with Calistoga, Calif.-based Duffy’s Napa Valley Rehab and Glen Ellen, Calif.-based Mountain Vista Farm to offer rehabilitation resources to affected patients.
The St. Helena Recovery Center operated for more than 40 years and provided care to thousands of patients through its 28-day residential program, according to the hospital.
