Panama City-based HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital is in the design phase of a $125 million expansion project that will add a new patient tower and dozens of beds to its main campus, according to NBC affiliate WJHG.
The project includes a new tower housing a 16-bed orthopedic and spine unit and 34 additional beds, according to the Aug. 19 report. The hospital will also expand its outpatient entrance by 5,000 square feet, grow its women’s center, add a fourth cardiac catheterization lab, and expand its existing NICU into a PICU.
The new patient tower will be located next to the hospital’s main campus, according to the report. Construction and development is expected to take place over the next 24 to 36 months and the project is expected to be completed by 2029.
HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital CEO Chase Christianson said Bay County’s population growth has increased demand for healthcare services.
“We are committed to our investment and making sure we grow the right way to continue meeting that growing demand,” Mr. Christianson said, according to the report.
