Reston Hospital Center begins $72M expansion: 4 things to know

Reston (Va.) Hospital Center, a 187-bed hospital under the Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare umbrella, began a $72 million renovation project, reston now reports.

Here are four things to know about the project.

1. The expansion, to be completed in phases, will add more than 63,000 square feet of space to Reston Hospital Center.

2. The project includes adding two patient care floors above the hospital's emergency department. The floors will comprise a 24-bed intensive care unit and an 18-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.

3. Reston Hospital Center's women and children's services unit will also be expanded, including 14 obstetric beds for high-risk patients, reston now reports. A second lab will also be added to the hospital's cardiac services unit.

4. The project is slated to reach completion in 2019.
