The new lab facility has a conveyor-belt system that can receive samples from each floor of the hospital and partially automated equipment to reduce turnaround time for tests.
“It’s all geared toward improving efficiency, Daphne Demello, MD, Phoenix Children’s medical director of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, told ABC 15.
Currently, around 100 physicians and scientists work in the lab, completing more than 1.3 million tests per year.
