New York health system picks new site for $67M hospital

Irving, N.Y.-based Brooks-TLC Hospital System has switched the site of a long-proposed hospital due to hurdles related to timing and zoning, according to Buffalo Business First.

The system hoped to build a $67 million, 100,000-square-foot, 29-bed hospital in Pomfret, N.Y., to replace 65-bed Brooks Memorial Hospital in nearby Dunkirk. But hospital leaders said they  realized last year that the town could not be the site of the new facility.

“It was clear that their timeline did not match ours. As I have said all along, our No. 1 goal throughout this process has been to work together to ensure that we have a stronger healthcare delivery system in Chautauqua County,” said Chris Lanski, chairman of the board for Brooks Memorial. “We have lost some time, but the goal remains the same.”

The new site for the hospital is a 30-acre parcel in the neighboring town of Fredonia. Hospital officials hope to start building in the spring.
