Nebraska Medicine, Girls Inc. partner on health clinic

Omaha-based Nebraska Medicine is partnering with Girls Inc. to open a health clinic near the organization's headquarters in Omaha, Neb., according to Omaha World-Herald.

The clinic will open in December and will serve as a primary care location for members of the organization aged five to 18. The clinic will offer services such as school and sports physicals, chronic disease management, wellness checks, reproductive health education and treatment for nonthreatening illnesses such as strep throat and sinus infections, according to the article.

Jill Lynch-Sosa, director of student health operations at Nebraska Medicine, told Omaha World-Herald she hopes the partnership will teach teen girls how to talk to healthcare professionals about their health.

The clinic was created as part of Girls Inc.'s $15 million expansion initiative. Most of the money was funded by local foundations, according to the article.

The clinic will be staffed by Nebraska Medicine employees. Three Nebraska Medicine employees will staff the clinic Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
