UPMC Jameson cited a decrease in patient volume as reason for the closure. In addition, the decision dovetails UPMC Jameson’s and UPMC Horizon’s — consisting of hospitals in Greenville, Pa., and Farrell, Pa. — efforts to improve outpatient services for behavioral healthcare in Lawrence and Mercer counties.

The closure will eliminate 24 jobs, though employees will have the opportunity to transfer to another position in UPMC’s system.
