Dayton General Hospital expands services

Dayton (Wash.) General Hospital has seen its financial situation improve, enabling the rural organization to expand services, according to a Walla Walla Union-Bulletin report.

The hospital is in the process of a renovation project that will add a number of new or expanded services to the system, including a physical therapy pool and cardiac therapy equipment, according to the article. Funding for the project is coming from a voter-approved, $5.5 million bond levy.

However, there are other potential purchases, such as ultrasound equipment, a wound care center and a hyperbaric chamber, among other things, reports Walla Walla Union-Bulletin.

In addition to the expanding services, the hospital also has hired a staff psychiatrist and worked to market the hospital's lab, radiology, physical therapy and other services to physicians and care providers in Walla Walla and the surrounding areas, CEO Shane McGuire said in the report.

DGH expects revenue in 2017 to be about $1 million higher than this year, though expenses will be up as well, according to the report.
