Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health has received approval from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to build a $324 million, 24-bed community hospital in Lincoln County, N.C.
Novant Health Lincoln Medical Center, which is expected to open in 2031, will comprise a 24-hour emergency department and a range of inpatient and outpatient services, according to an Aug. 13 LinkedIn post.
It will also have a dedicated cesarean-section operating room.
“The state’s approval is a critical milestone in our efforts to expand healthcare access in Lincoln County,” Chris Bowe, senior vice president and president of Novant Health Charlotte Region, said in the release. “We’ve heard from our patients about the challenges of traveling for care, especially during emergencies or ongoing treatment. Bringing Novant Health’s acute care closer to home can make a meaningful difference for patients and their families, and this hospital will help ensure the region has access to remarkable, patient-centered care for years to come.”
Novant Health is a nonprofit, academic medical center-backed health system with 21 hospitals. It has more than 43,000 employees, more than 2,100 physicians, more than 900 locations across North Carolina and South Carolina and more than 730 physician clinics, according to its website.
