Mercy Health System plans microhospital: 5 things to know

Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System plans to build a microhospital in Crystal Lake, Ill., according to a Northwest Herald report.

Here are five things to know.

1. Mercy is seeking approval for the project from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.

2. If approved, the microhospital would include 13 beds, two operating rooms, a 24/7 emergency room and a clinic, according to the report. The 13 beds would be redistributed from Mercy Harvard (Ill.) Hospital to the new facility.

3. Mercy said the new microhospital would also create more than 150 new jobs, reports Northwest Herald. That’s in addition to employees who would transfer to the site from four nearby Crystal Lake clinics and one clinic in Lake in the Hills, Ill.

4. The total cost of the project is estimated to be about $105 million.

5. Mercy hopes to open the new facility around November 2020, according to the report.
