The Center for Health and Happiness, which was established in April, hosted a symposium Dec. 2 on how well-being is related to health outcomes. The new center was made possible with the support of a $21 million gift from the Lee Kum Kee family, which is known for their international Chinese-style sauce and condiment business.
Inside the auditorium, Laura Kubzansky, PhD, the Lee Kum Kee Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the co-director of the Health and Happiness Center, discussed the growing evidence that supports the connection between human health, well-being and happiness.
Francesca Dominici, PhD, the Harvard Chan School’s senior associate dean for research, said the research center will focus on developing a “rigorous science” on how positive psychological and social factors affect health and how to incorporate those findings into public policy with the goal of improving overall health.
