The expansion, which is expected to officially begin this summer, is meant to support increased production of MRI components to accommodate new products in GE Healthcare’s portfolio, according to the report. The company will also create about 100 new jobs.
Dale Wolf, executive of shop operations at GE Healthcare, said the decision to expand was driven by the desire to put all of the company’s supply chain under one roof, according to the report. The expanded Florence facility will house new equipment and materials from other warehouses.
“We’re really trying to improve the customer experience and get the entire system leaving from one site,” Mr. Wolf said, according to the report. “We’re trying to simplify it.”
