Brentwood Hospital plans $11M project to improve mental health services

Brentwood Hospital in Shreveport, La., plans to build a four-story wing that will add 58 inpatient psychiatric treatment beds, according to a KTBS report.

The $11 million project will offer additional services for patients of all ages, said William Weaver, CEO of Brentwood Hospital.

The 200-bed hospital will also provide electroconvulsive therapy under anesthesia and hire approximately 20 to 30 employees, including psychiatrists, nurses and social workers.

Brentwood's outpatient expansion expects to apply for licensing in February and finish the inpatient wing should by the end of the year, according to Mr. Weaver. The hospital will then apply for licensing through the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.
