The 80,000-square-foot, 120-bed hospital addresses needs for additional beds to treat mental health patients unable to receive care at Greenville, S.C.-based Marshall I. Pickens Hospital. Acadia will oversee hospital operations, and both organizations will invest an undisclosed amount in the facility.

“As healthcare providers, we are always called upon to provide the best care we can to our patients,” Kenneth Rogers, MD, chairman of psychiatry at GHS, told Greenville Online. “However, in South Carolina, one of the struggles we’ve had is there are hundreds of thousands of people who don’t get the adequate healthcare they need. By partnering with Acadia, we will be able to make a huge difference in their lives.”
