4 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to build 52-bed hospital in King of Prussia
Expanding its presence in the region, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia will build a 52-bed, 250,000-square-foot inpatient hospital in King of Prussia, Pa. 

2. Allegheny Health Network to open 4 micro-hospitals in 2019
As part of its $1 billion investment strategy to improve access to care, Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network will open four micro-hospitals in 2019. 

3. Beebe Healthcare ditches plan to add hospital beds
Citing a changing healthcare landscape, Lewes, Del.-based BeeBe Healthcare has abandoned its plan to add inpatient rooms at the Lewes Campus. However, the Lewes campus will get several upgrades, including renovated patient rooms, more parking spaces and a bigger lobby.

4. Cottage Health nears end of $750M project to build earthquake-resistant hospital
Santa Barbara, Calif.-based Cottage Health soon will complete its decadelong, $750 million project to rebuild its Santa Barbara hospital to make it earthquake-resistant.
