10 eerie photos of Georgia's 'bad debt hospital,' abandoned for 15 years

Hancock County Hospital in Sparta, Ga., earned the nickname "bad debt hospital" after first shutting down from unmanageable debt in 1974 and then again in 2001.

The most recent hospital closure forced about 9,000 patients to seek medical care at the next nearest hospital, located 90 minutes away. The Hancock County Hospital Authority still owns the facility in the hopes of reopening it in the future.

The hospital has been abandoned for the last 15 years, with patient records, medical equipment and supplies scattered throughout the facility in a state of disarray.

Photographer Leland Kent recently captured amazing images of the abandoned hospital which are posted on his blog "Abandoned Southeast" and featured in a Daily Mail article.
