Pickens County Medical Center officials selected Cerner CommunityWorks, a cloud-based deployment model focused on the rural and community hospital market, after a six-month review of five potential health IT vendors.

Under the agreement, the hospital will transition to the Cerner Millennium EHR, which provides physicians with access to patients’ clinical and financial data. Cerner will also offer patients access to an online portal to message physicians, schedule appointments and access their health history.

“As the first Cerner CommunityWorks client in Alabama, we are beyond thrilled to watch PCMC grow and continue to provide high-quality health services to the people of Pickens County,” said Michael Farrell, vice president of Cerner CommunityWorks.
