Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare is a joint venture between Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Medicine and Saudi Aramco, the national petroleum and natural gas company in Saudi Arabia. At the time of the go-live, hospital staff had received roughly 50,000 hours of training on the Epic system.

“I am excited about the healthcare opportunities that Epic provides and I am confident that it indeed signals a new era in healthcare at JHAH,” Mahmoud al-Zaiyat, CIO of Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, said in a statement.

Fifteen thousand patients, or 14 percent of eligible users, pre-registered for Epic’s patient portal, MyChart. An additional 11,000 registered in the days following the go-live.
