The health IT company currently employs about 5,000 workers and plans to hire new employees in various fields, including analytics, medical coding and customer support.
Jon McDevitt, senior vice president of technology-enabled services at Athenahealth, told the publication that now is a good time to expand its workforce because the company is growing and has seen “huge” demand for its services. Athenahealth provides EHR software and other cloud-based IT services.
About 90 percent of Athenahealth’s employees at its Belfast, Maine-based office are working from home and will for the foreseeable future, Mr. McDevitt said. Most of the new employees who will join the company will be recruited and trained remotely.
