Athenahealth adds virtual obstetrical care to its marketplace

Athenahealth added a value-based obstetrics care technology platform to its online marketplace.

Mother Goose Health, which helps identify medical risks during pregnancy, will unify communication and care and facilitate clinical interventions to improve preterm birth outcomes, will be free to obstetrics providers who use Athenahealth's marketplace, according to a June 21 press release.

"Once a patient enrolls, we secure data on key health and social factors to segment patients into high, moderate, and low-risk groups," said Kenneth Levey, MD, CEO and founder of Mother Goose Health. "Knowing the risk and being able to predict outcomes, we seamlessly notify the obstetrical care team to intervene and then, at the direction of the physician, our in-house team of care managers, nurses, social workers, mental health professionals, physical therapists and nutritionists utilize virtual interactions and remote patient monitoring to intervene before the next scheduled office visit."

The platform integrates with Athenahealth's EHR system and medical billing services so obstetricians can access Mother Goose Health's care plans within their own clinical workflow.
