The Chicago-based EHR vendor has been working with public health officials to meet vaccine administration and documentation needs. Allscripts EHRs have supported vaccine administration reminders and reporting to state immunization registries since 2011, according to the Dec. 17 news release.
Allscripts is now providing clients capabilities including orders, billing, reporting, allergy/intolerance/adverse events, second-dose reminders and data that can be uploaded with the new vaccine information.
Allscripts will also address new CPT codes and relevant medications related to COVID-19 across its software and has implemented new functions that let clients document the first administered COVID-19 vaccines in their EHRs without needing to use other external databases.
