Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham is looking to partner with CVS Health in a bid to expand primary care access in Massachusetts, The Boston Globe reported July 31.

Here are five things to know:

  1. The organizations are looking to offer adult primary care at MinuteClinic, the walk-in clinics inside CVS stores.

  2. The initiative would encompass 37 CVS locations in regions such as Worcester and Bristol counties and western Massachusetts.

  3. According to plans that Mass General Brigham and CVS filed in June with the state’s Health Policy Commission, 80 nurse practitioners and physician associates employed by CVS would staff the clinics and oversee 1,500 patients.

  4. The clinics would join Mass General Brigham’s network of providers, enabling referrals to the system’s hospitals, specialists, diagnostic services and laboratories for follow-up care.

  5. The filings did not specify which primary care services the clinics would offer. A CVS spokesperson told the publication the collaboration is still in its early stages. She said the commission is expected to issue findings near the end of the year, and that MinuteClinic may begin offering primary care in early 2026.
