Baptist Health South Florida appoints 1st VP for innovation

Baptist Health South Florida named Mark Coticchia the Coral Gables-based health system's inaugural corporate vice president for innovation.

Mr. Coticchia joins Baptist Health from Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System, where he has served as vice president and chief innovation officer since 2012, overseeing the Henry Ford Innovation Institute and the Davidson Center for Digital Health. Prior to that, he held leadership roles in venture development.

At Baptist Health, Mr. Coticchia will expand medical innovation initiatives, continue the development of the health system's recently launched Innovation Institute Miami and identify venture opportunities for the system to pursue.

"So many great medical ideas never leave the room because most people have neither the know-how nor the resources to bring their ideas to fruition. Mark Coticchia will be instrumental in helping us to drive improvements in patient health by following through on the process of innovation, from concept to clinical trial to a final product," Barry Katzen, MD, founder and medical director of Baptist Health's Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, said in a statement.
