Health data company Datavant and health information management company Ciox Health finalized their $7 billion merger agreement, the companies announced July 28.
Four details:
1. The companies announced plans for the merger in June; the combined entity will go by Datavant.
2. By merging, Datavant plans to broaden data access and exchange for healthcare providers, academic institutions, insurers, life science companies and health data companies.
3. Datavant's new network comprises more than 15,000 clinics, 2,000 hospitals, 120 health plans, 100 health data analytics companies, 75 government agencies, 70 academic institutions and nonprofits, and 30 life science companies.
4. Datavant's investors include Cigna Ventures, Johnson & Johnson Innovation, and Labcorp.
