Five Indiana health systems joined together to create an online dashboard that will track how patients of different racial backgrounds are treated in hospitals, IndyStar reported March 7.
Indianapolis-based IU Health, Mishawaka-based Franciscan Health, Indianapolis-based Community Health Network, Indianapolis-based Eskenazi Health and Indianapolis-based Ascension St. Vincent, which have met on a weekly basis to develop the dashboard, hope that making this data public could increase awareness of racial disparities in care and encourage patients to ask their providers about appropriate care.
Currently, the dashboard includes data about the racial disparities in diabetes care but will also include information about infant mortality and mental health.
There is currently no known timeline as to when the dashboard will be made available, according to the report.
