Below are nine phishing attacks that have been reported since Jan. 1.
1. Decatur, Texas-based Wise Health System began notifying 66,934 patients that their protected health information may have been exposed in a phishing attack, according to a Feb. 13 news release.
2. Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System began notifying 16,167 patients Jan. 31 that their information may have been exposed in a phishing attack.
3. Lafayette (Ind.) Regional Rehabilitation Hospital began notifying 1,360 patients that their information may have been exposed in a phishing attack.
4. Phoenix Children’s Hospital began notifying 1,860 patients Jan. 14 that their information may have been exposed in a phishing attack.
5. Whittier, Calif.-based PIH Health began notifying 199,548 patients on Jan. 10 that their protected health information may have been exposed in a data breach.
6. Adventist Health Simi Valley (Calif.) began alerting patients Jan. 6 that their protected health information may have been exposed in a phishing attack.
7. South Portland, Maine-based Spectrum Healthcare Partners notified 11,308 patients of an email incident that may have exposed their protected health information.
8. Lagrangeville, N.Y.-based Health Quest began notifying an undisclosed number of patients Jan. 10 that their information may have been exposed in a phishing attack.
9. Alexandria, Minn.-based Alomere Health began notifying 49,351 patients Jan. 3 that their information may have been exposed in two phishing attacks.
