Survey: Compensation increases for physicians across 5 specialties

Physicians across several specialties have seen continued gains in cash compensation over the past five years, according to a recent SullivanCotter survey.

The survey gathered data on approximately 135,000 individual physicians and advanced primary care physicians from nearly 570 participating hospitals, health systems and medical groups.

Here are the total cash compensation median percent increases from 2012-17 across five physician specialties.

1. Family medicine — 22 percent

2. General pediatrics — 18.4 percent

3. Internal medicine — 19.1 percent

4. General psychiatry — 21.3 percent

5. General cardiology — 17 percent
